July – Buzzing with Events

July is the month of Paddle round the Pier, 3rd and 4th July at Hove Lawns.

It sounds as though it will be huge fun. As well as the races around the pier, there is an amazing selection of sports events including Parkour, Street Surfing, martial arts. There will be bands (The Railing Stains, Boy Com, Jo Harman Project, Los Albertos, Red Jackson and Transformer). Tea dances for the more sedate plus a children’s arena.

On the Arts front there is an exhibition, funded by the Arts Council, at Preston Manor. 12 international artists have created pieces evoking life within the Manor in its heyday. Always a wonderful place to visit, the exhibition ‘Unravelling The Manor’ (until 25th July) will refresh and increase our appreciation. Take proof of residency for half price entry – to just £2.50.

The CMP Festival takes place with many stimulating events at S. Michaels and S Nicholas throughout July.

As mentioned on the cover The Montpelier and Clifton Hill Association’s 40th Anniversary Garden Party at Brighton and Hove High School takes place 4.30-7.30 Saturday 10th July. Everyone is welcome. Their saving The Alex is certainly worthy of a party! Phone 729998 or get tickets on the gate.

Look out for the Whale Walk inside…a rare chance to do something practical to help these lovely creatures.

What a busy month!

Carl from Pier to Pier Plumbing - "It definitely works. I get business from it at a reasonable cost. It is nice to get local customers"

" It has been very helpful I have had quite a few enquiries. I have even had work from outside the area, a reader passed my details on to a friend. It is definitely worthwhile, business has picked up. The only reason I would stop advertising would be if I get TOO busy." Simon James of Albion Lofts
